South Africa Holds Roundtable Interaction with Stakeholders.

The South African Consulate General in Lagos, in collaboration with the South African High Commission in Abuja, hosted a stakeholder engagement with media, tour operators and strategic stakeholders such as, the South African Tourism, National Association of Travel Agencies (NANTA), South African Airways (SAA), Nigeria-South Africa Chamber of Commerce (NSCC), amongst others.

The Acting High Commissioner, Mr Bobby J Moroe, and the Consul General, Mr Darkey E Africa both addressed the stakeholders during the Media Roundtable event held at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria,

This is an initiative to provide regular updates about South African immigration laws, and also to address amongst others, the engagement sought to respond to frequently asked questions regarding immigration issues, and to receive proposals on how to unlock the possible bottlenecks arising from visa applications.

The Missions also seized the opportunity to brief stakeholders about the outcomes of the recent engagement between the Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Honourable Lindiwe Sisulu, the Minister of Police, Honourable Bheki Cele, the Minister of Home Affairs, Honourable Siyabonga Cwele and the African Heads of Mission in South Africa on the attacks that took place in Durban.

The Government of South Africa is unequivocal in its stance that what happened in Durban is at variance with the value systems espoused by South Africans in general.

Attacks on foreign nationals are criminal acts that will not be tolerated. As such, the laws of the country will be reinforced and the Government will not hesitate to act decisively in tackling crime, lawlessness, intolerance and disregard for the rule of law.

For many decades, South Africans have lived side by side with foreign nationals in peace and harmony. Our Government cannot allow a few individuals to reverse and undermine our historical achievements.

The Government will do everything within the law to ensure safety of all citizens and foreign nationals in South Africa.

By working together, we can build a better South Africa and Africa.
