“Tourism is so important to South Africa, 9% of the GDP is tourism and it employs 800,000 people in the country but we moved from focusing on mining because the gold it stucks on the ground and out after sometime so we looked around sustainability and we said let’s focus on tourism because it is a space that just keeps on going for ever”, Mr. Ntshona said to Mr. Omotoso.

“Another thing about tourism is, when you focus on it , it triggers other areas as well一infrastructure, you have to build roads, airports in other for this fund to flow 一you have to build hotels, it touches on agriculture一people have to eat, it touches on energy, it touches on everything else. I think that’s a big ripple effect and that is why we focus on tourism”, Ntshona said.

He added that other African countries should come to Indaba, come learn and experience,  interact and find counterpart一you will find years and years of experience in this hall for three days after speaking to the trade and the hotels on possible investment in your country because until you interact you may be missing out on some necessary things.
